What are Captive Fasteners?

Captive fasteners are fastening solutions that remain attached to a panel or component, even when it’s loosened. Designed to be installed into a pre-drilled hole or panel insert, captive fasteners prevent loss and misplacement making them ideal for applications where fasteners must be reliable while being removed and installed frequently. The most common type of captive fasteners are captive screws, which are also sometimes referred to as captive bolts.
